IE crashes while recording Java Applets and Oracle Forms

We are have been successfully recording and playing scripts on Oracle Forms until recently.  Recently we had upgraded to the following IE and Java Versions.    

 SilkTest 17.0.0.8217        IE 11.0.9600.18524 (KB3197655)       Java 8 Update 112 (8.0.1120.15)

We assume that these IE and Java upgrades have affected SIlk as we regularly get "Internet Explorer has crashed" messages while recording on Oracle Forms applications.  

We would like to confirm if our assumption is correct  and would like to check if anyone else have had a similar experience with IE crashing while recording, on the combination of Versions.
